Waxhaw is a small town in South Carolina. It's located on the banks of Lake Wylie, and has been known for its natural beauty since it was founded in 1810. The town was named after one of its founders, who was born into slavery in North Carolina and named his son "Waxhaw" because he had been born in a grove of wax myrtle trees (a evergreen).

The town has many historic sites, including the Waxhaw Heritage Museum & Art Center and the Historic Waxhaw Depot Museum.
